Ok, now that I’ve got your attention I can tell you that the title of this blog was written for dramatic effect and intentionally bordering the subject matter of a Lifetime movie so that you would read it. But, that does not dismiss the seriousness of the statement, because sunless tanning could, indeed, save your life. Everyone looks nice with a little “color” during the summer, and the sun is a good source of Vitamin D. I love the sun, but like most things, I believe in moderation. Not only do I want to keep you from looking 80 when you are 50, but I’d like to help save your life as well. Spending too much time in the sun, unprotected, over a prolonged period of time is just downright stupid, given all the information we know today about skin cancer and the sun. If you’re reading this blog then you’re probably no Emily Dickinson, so don’t let me scare you away from the sun (I’m sure you won’t). But, sunless tanning is a fantastic and safe way to enhance your color during the summer. So far, three different brands have caught my eye (and my tan).

So lately I’ve been receiving comments from friends and readers admitting that after reading these blogs they feel a strong urge to run out and buy copious amounts of beauty products. Well…I’m sorry. I promise my intention is not to deplete your savings account, or the money you’ve tucked away for your daughter’s wedding that you consider spending as you are sure your daughter will never get married…Mom. But I just can’t help but share the goods with you. I promise that one day I’ll find a terrible cosmetic product or skincare line and will say to you, “DON’T USE THIS!” But until then I’ve got nothin’ but love for ya. So, you may or not be very happy with me when I follow this paragraph with another one telling you how much I have fallen in love with Lauren Hutton Cosmetics.

As I sit on the floor of my practically empty Manhattan apartment, typing this blog to you on this sunny, New York afternoon, I can’t help but notice that past my lap top is a pair of feet that are in desperate need of a pedicure. With no time and no money, however, I will have to think of another way to salvage my post-beach feet. Between the rolling waves in Destin and the warm sand in Nantucket, my nail color has taken quite a beating these past few weeks. My hands aren’t looking too hot either, but I’ve been filing them religiously in hopes to pull off “nice hands” from far away. So, luckily for us, I have a few tips recommended by Neri Ortega, nail expert of Butterfly Studio Salon, on how to snag your own long lasting manicure and pedicure without chipping!

I may have spent my Memorial Day in Nantucket this year, but that doesn’t mean I can’t represent my fine home-state of Mississippi while I’m away. Growing up in Jackson, I was exposed to many things indigenous to the South- fried food, fine people, and Amy Head Cosmetics. Amy has supplied me with makeup advice and amazing skincare since I was a teenager. While I’ve known Amy for a long time, I sat down with her during my last visit to Jackson to pick her brain about ambition, inspiration, and how to look your best, even without wearing an ounce of makeup.

I could not love CoverGirl any more than I do right now. Known for their fresh faced spokes models such as Molly Sims, Queen Latifah, Drew Barrymore, and Rihanna (who I love), CoverGirl has more than made a reputation for themselves as “easy, breezy, and beautiful.” But I met with their celebrity stylist, Molly Stern, a few days ago and was just blown away not only by her, but by the new, fresh look that CoverGirl is working with these days.
