A Southern girl with Lebanese roots, Deenie was exposed to the importance of proper skincare at a young age. If it wasn’t her Lebanese elders schooling her on the best night creams and body lotions, then her mother was seeing sure her little Southern Belle didn’t leave the house without wearing “lips.” Deenie believes in a natural approach to beauty; one that helps women promote their assets no matter their beauty regimen. She knows it is important to take care of your skin because that is your foundation with which to work with for the rest of your life! Make-up is fun, but skincare is crucial in her book, and a Southern girl is always sure to cover her beauty bases. During her time as a dancer she was able to witness beauty both inside and out, and hopes to use her experience to help women feel beautiful everyday!

Residing in New York City, Deenie Hartzog is freelance writer in the field of beauty, journalism, and creative non-fiction. She has published articles in Southern Beauty Magazine and also blogs on beauty at Jolie in NYC.

I trust a deepsouth girl over any other to know the best approach to beauty(the humidity demands it!). This of course is notwithstanding the class and dedication this particular Belle exudes ever since I've known her. Keep "clickin'" girl! We love you!
Thanks!

Thank You For Reminding Me That Not Everyone Knows The Indside Details

Deenie,

I cannot thank you enough for giving me the gift of being exposed to someone outside my plastic world. I'm the first to admit what I do can be superficial at times but it also is rewarding to help others become their best.

In March of 2007 I was assaulted by a handy man at the private school I taught at. The injuries have stopped me from working in my field or any other since then. Obviously I miss the ability to make the money I used to but also I found teaching personally rewarding.

Since I obtained my first certificate over 20 years ago I have spent most of my time around others who shared my passion. Most of the clients I've worked with have been having procedures done for years. The students I taught were already taught the basics before I got to them. The quality I never possessed was dealing with beginners. By the time my students were in the same room with me they already did their basics and were supposed to know how to do a facial.

Once a student became "one of mine" they became mine forever. I still speak to many of them or they e-mail me with questions if they needed help. One of my former students began teaching. My eyes lit up when I watched him explain procedures. I was tired one night and in amazement asked him where he learned what he had described that I didn't even know that. He pulled out a hand out that I had written!

I worked in the OR and very closely with plastic surgeons as well as doing a year as an intern (getting the same education as a doctor specializing in dermatology without having to go to medical school). I felt my students were a reflection of me and worked hard to make sure they were well educated. The school's owner told me to stop telling them so much because they could become my "competition". I never worried about that. I never advertised, other then handing out a couple of business cards a week but still had as many private clients as I could possibly handle. My billboard was the faces of clients with amazing results.

Everyone either loved or hated me there was no in between. If someone asks what to do to obtain a specific result I told them. It wasn't always what they wanted to hear and sometimes involved some help from a plastic surgeon but they would always get the result they wanted.

I rarely even read the online "blogs". After reading that one I read some other things you posted and think you really represent what a "real" person feels, not someone from my "plastic world" as some people feel. There is also the recontructive as well as the self esteem that it give women. I have seen very scary things done by doctors who should not be able to practice medicine on earthworms but do risky, invasive procedures on mostly women after they're under anesthesia.

I hope to recover and get back to my normal life at some point, until then if you need the inside information on anything please feel free to contact me. If I can't answer it, I can get one of the top board certified plastic surgeons in the country to answer for me. I'm impressed by your knowledge.

Sincerely,
Kim, Licensed Aesthetician, NY
