This may be the most important vote you have ever made. The U.S. economy is in the toilet, we are approaching our ninth year of war in the Middle East, and the healthcare crisis has never been more evident.
If you have been feeling overwhelmed by opinions and just want the facts, we have the book for you: Barack Obama vs. John McCain - Side by Side Senate Voting Record for Easy Comparison. This book is opinion-free, so you can make an informed decision based on what has already been done, not what each candidate is promising now. |

Unless you have the power of flight or have evolved to the point where you travel by astral projection, you have to deal with our county’s transportation infrastructure, including highways, bridges and levees (hello Midwest and New Orleans...).
And as deplorable as the conditions are everywhere, according to Popular Mechanics (affectionately know as the handbook for nerds), there are 10 spots in the country that must be fixed right away – and considering most are located in or near huge population centers, these need-to-be-fixed probably affect a majority of the country’s citizens. Number one is Chicago’s Circle Interchange (Chicago has the dubious distinction of have two locations on the “must fix” list; O’Hare Airport is number 10). We thought we couldn’t take anymore of the election season, either. We couldn’t get enough after Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada, and South Carolina. It’s too late to register to vote in the twenty-odd states that are holding primaries today (Super Tuesday), but, thankfully, we are a nation that believes in second chances. And when registering to vote is as easy as shopping online, there really is no excuse. OK, fine, you agree. But what if you don’t know if you are even registered to vote? A site called votepoke.org is your new best friend. Type in your bio data (name and address) and it will tell if you are registered to vote and then help you to register if you aren’t. It gets better – you can look up anyone’s voter registration information. How much do we love Internet-based stalker tools? Perhaps the better question is will your friends and family share that sentiment after you out them for being civic slackers? But if you aren’t into doing reconnaissance on whether your friends and family are registered to vote, do it the old-fashioned vanilla way on rockthevote.com. It’s not all vanilla, they throw some toppings on. You can find out your state’s primary and caucus deadlines, get information about the election from the CNN Election Center, or join their Facebook group. It’s your choice. Are you going to poke or rock the vote? |
